Indian Wedding on Lake Maggiore

Indian Wedding in Italy

Amit and Punam, who live in London and are of Indian origin wanted to have a traditional Indian wedding. They knew they wanted to celebrate their wedding with friends and family in Italy, but were unsure of where to hold it with all of the options. So, the couple spent a long weekend with us ; travelling from Rome to Tuscany to the lake region in the North to visit possible wedding venues. It was on Lake Maggiore where the couple found their perfect location at Villa Rusconi Clerici; a majestic old world style villa with gorgeous views of the lake.

The wedding aesthetic was inspired by the couples traditional Indian roots; from the beautiful rich jewel toned fabrics and flowers, to the henna tattoo artist, as well as all of the rituals and customs that preceded the actual wedding ceremony.

The day of the wedding was full of tradition, love, and joy.  As guests were staying along the lake in the town of Stresa, they traveled the short distance to the venue by boat and were able to soak in the dazzling splendor of the lake; a magical start to the wedding day celebration.

The couple was able to truly customize their wedding, including the procession of the groom surrounded by family and friends (called Baarat) with traditional Indian dhol drummers to the beautifully decorated Mandap (traditionally Indian wedding canopy with four pillars) with the soft pink and blush billowy fabric. It was a perfect frame for the stunning backdrop of Lake Maggiore.

The flowers were customized to the colors of the ceremony and the brides beautiful wedding sari – deep pinks, red and soft blush colors; including the traditional flower necklaces that adorned the bride and groom during the ceremony.

Guests enjoyed a stylish reception in the gardens of the villa followed by a traditional Italian dinner, as requested by the bride and groom, as the sun set over the shimmering waters of the lake.

The newlyweds ended their day of celebration by dancing the night away to a DJ flown in from London who specializes in Indian music and weddings in the renovated cellars of the villa.

We are happy to share Punam and Amit’s thank you note:

Dear Monica, Thank you for making our wedding day so special. You quickly understood our requirements, the wedding vibe that we were looking to create and also took on board some of the Indian traditions we required i.e. dhol players. Your choice/selection of wedding venues as well as suppliers was spot on. You made time on a regular basis for our calls, messages and emails and responded quickly and helped guide us throughout the whole wedding process with ease. We placed a lot of faith and trust in you as organising an Indian wedding on Lake Maggiore from London was not the easiest of tasks however you made the whole process easy for us and our families. Your attention to detail is incredible, your taste and recommendation of suppliers matched what we were looking for in terms  of style of wedding and you also challenged us where we trying to do things that were not possible in order to ensure the days ran smoothly. What really came through was not how this is just a job for you, but you really cared for the couple and put your heart and soul into the planning. Amit and I want to thank you so much for really making this a dream wedding for us and our families, we have so many special memories and would not hesitate to recommend you to any our family or friends. Lots of love, Punam and Amit xxx
